Good pairings

  • Metal gear

    Mining and Blacksmithing

One equippable recipe that fills a weak slot. Save the ore on the road.

  • Leather gear

    Skinning and Leatherworking

Skin beasts you already kill. Craft on the town return.

  • Consumables

    Herbalism and Alchemy

One learned potion or elixir you will actually drink while questing. Herbalism also places Incense Candle at a camp.

  • Cloth and bags

    Tailoring plus any second profession

Compare a clothing recipe with extra bag slots. Cloth comes from humanoids.

  • Gadgets

    Mining and Engineering

A tool or device you will click often enough to justify the ore.

Rules every profession shares

While you levelShort rules for professions and camps on the way to 60Show
  1. 1Pick a craft you will wear or drink, and gather its materials along your quest route.
  2. 2Camp objects unlock at profession skill 20, not character level 20. Learn them from camping NPCs or profession trainers.
  3. 3A basic campfire holds up to three objects, one per player. Sit for a few moments to pick up the one-hour buffs.
  4. 4Camp buffs are versions of class buffs and do not stack with them.
  5. 5A better object replaces a weaker one from the same profession. It never adds a second copy of the buff.
  6. 6You cannot place a campfire in a city, or too close to another campfire.
  7. 7Forever adds 600+ recipes, so treat a Classic 1-300 list as a starting point only.

New in ForeverWhat public coverage has shownShow
  • A free gathering skill at the start

A starting-zone quest offers three books and you take one: Mining for Dummies, Pelt Collecting for Beginners or Wild Harvest. It teaches that skill and gives 2 skill points.

  • Professions have their own window

Open it from the micro menu or with K. Orange recipes always give a skill point, and you can track a recipe in the objectives list.

  • A reagent bag slot

You get a separate slot for a reagent bag. Tailoring makes a 6-slot Linen Reagent Bag.

  • Unlearning

The red X by the skill bar drops a primary profession. Secondary professions cannot be unlearned. Coming back means leveling it again.

  • New recipes come from supply vendors

Azeroth Commerce Authority vendors at the Redridge crossroads sell the new patterns, plans, schematics and formulas. The Horde counterpart is Durotar Supply and Logistics.

  • Crafted gear can be traded

New Tailoring and Leatherworking pieces are bind on equip. Tailoring gear and most new Engineering items work without the profession.

  • New materials

Azerothium Bar, Legionite Bar, Torbernite, Death Lotus, Marefoil, Fel Hide, Pristine Leather, and Magenta, Cerulean and Viridian Dye.

  • A title at 300

Each primary crafting profession has a certification item at 300 skill that unlocks a title.

  • Camping starts with a quest

The early quest The Great Outdoors unlocks camping. After that, sit for a minute at any camp marked Campfire Nearby to share its buffs, even outside the owner's party.
