A two-handed build that fixes Rage first. Improved Charge and Anger Management are both in by level 22, so a fight starts with Rage and keeps making it. Sweeping Strikes at 31 lets you hit two enemies at once and Mortal Strike arrives at 40. The last 20 points go into Fury for critical strike chance and extra Rage.
Key decisions
- Improved Rend comes first because Deep Wounds needs all 3 points in it. Its per-rank values are not confirmed.
- Fill Improved Tactical Mastery before the rest of row 2: Anger Management needs all 5 points.
- Sweeping Strikes at 31 comes before Two-Handed Weapon Specialization: Mortal Strike requires it.
- Weaponmaster changes with your weapon: critical strike chance for axes and polearms, armor ignored for maces and staves, extra attacks for swords.

Critical strikes drive this build. Cruelty and Unbridled Wrath come first, then Enrage, Death Wish and Flurry stack damage and attack speed on the way to Bloodthirst at 40. Dual Wield Specialization waits until 41, so a two-handed weapon works until then: Unbridled Wrath gives 2 Rage per proc with one.
Key decisions
- Blood Craze, Piercing Howl and one point of Boundless Rage are the five points that open row 4. Piercing Howl slows every nearby enemy when you need to leave.
- Fill Enrage before Flurry: Flurry needs all 5 points in it.
- Death Wish at 31 comes before Precision: Bloodthirst requires it.
- Raging Blows makes Whirlwind strike with your off-hand too, so it pays off most once you dual wield.

A shield build for players who tank dungeons on the way up. Shield Specialization turns blocks into Rage from level 10, Vanguard lets you Charge in Defensive Stance and Bastion adds damage while a shield is equipped. Shield Slam arrives at 40. In our view it kills slower than Arms or Fury when you quest alone.
Key decisions
- Two points in Improved Bloodrage open Last Stand, and five in Shield Specialization open Master of Defense.
- Concussion Blow at 30: Shield Slam requires it, and it is a 5 sec stun.
- Bastion comes before Focused Rage: its damage bonus applies to everything you do with a shield on.
- The last 15 points go into Fury for Cruelty and Unbridled Wrath.

Changes from Classic, and what the beta showed.
New ability ranks reach your action bar on their own when you train them.
The character sheet shows a tank's Critical Strike Immunity and Crushing Blow Immunity. Defense can still help past that cap. Beta
Weapon-skill bonuses on individual items are being reduced. Read the tooltip before you chase an old favorite.
Some items can cut the chance for your attacks to be parried or dodged.
Queueing Heroic Strike or Cleave turns off the spell queue window in the beta. Blizzard lists it as a bug. Beta
